The monsoon, honestly

It takes a minute and prevents the thing that costs a vet visit.

What it costs, and what it keeps costing

From ₹28,837. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. We would rather quote the real figure and explain what is in it.

Vets, boosters and finding help quickly

Register with a vet before you need one. In a city this size the difference between a clinic that knows your Yellow Monk and one meeting it during an emergency is considerable. Do it in the first fortnight, while nothing is wrong.

A Yellow Monk in a Peth Gaon home

Space in Peth Gaon is measured carefully, and a small bird has to fit into a plan that was already tight. The good news is that a Yellow Monk cares far less about floor area than about whether anyone is in the room. Households here manage this breed in genuinely small flats, and manage it well.

Walking a small breed in a crowded city

Keep the bird on the inside, away from the road, and accept that a Peth Gaon walk is a training session rather than a stroll. A Yellow Monk learns the city fast when it is walked deliberately and never learns it at all when it is dragged.

The cost, and the cost after that

From ₹28,837. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. Budget a similar amount again for year one.

Health and handover

Vet-examined, vaccinated and dewormed before it travels, with the records handed over as originals. Keep them with the clinic number — a small bird on a booster schedule runs off those original dates.
