What it costs, and what it keeps costing

From ₹28,837. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. We would rather quote the real figure and explain what is in it.

Choosing between breeds

The Yellow Monk is family friendly and lives around 5-15 Years. Both facts should sit in the decision. A breed that suits a household at thirty may not suit the same household at forty, and this is a long commitment in a city that moves people around.

The monsoon, honestly

moderate Deccan, which is a polite way of saying the rain arrives and does not leave. A small bird coming in wet twice a day needs a towel routine and somewhere to dry that is not the bed. Fungal trouble in a Yellow Monk starts in exactly the places you stop checking.

A Yellow Monk in a Narayan peth home

People assume the constraint is square footage. It is usually storage - where the food goes, where the carrier lives, where a wet bird dries off in August. Solve those three and a Yellow Monk settles into a Narayan peth flat with less friction than you would guess.

Walking a small breed in a crowded city

Keep the bird on the inside, away from the road, and accept that a Narayan peth walk is a training session rather than a stroll. A Yellow Monk learns the city fast when it is walked deliberately and never learns it at all when it is dragged.

The cost, and the cost after that

From ₹28,837. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. Budget a similar amount again for year one.

Health and handover

Vet-examined, vaccinated and dewormed before it travels, with the records handed over as originals. Keep them with the clinic number — a small bird on a booster schedule runs off those original dates.
