A Yellow Monk in a Masulkar colony home

People assume the constraint is square footage. It is usually storage - where the food goes, where the carrier lives, where a wet bird dries off in August. Solve those three and a Yellow Monk settles into a Masulkar colony flat with less friction than you would guess.

Choosing between breeds

Talk to us before you decide rather than after. We would rather place a different bird with you and have it work than sell you the Yellow Monk you asked for and hear about it in six months.

The monsoon, honestly

moderate Deccan, which is a polite way of saying the rain arrives and does not leave. A small bird coming in wet twice a day needs a towel routine and somewhere to dry that is not the bed. Fungal trouble in a Yellow Monk starts in exactly the places you stop checking.

What it costs, and what it keeps costing

Budget ₹28,837 to ₹28,837 for the bird and a similar amount again for the first year. That second number is the one people forget, and it is the one that decides whether a Yellow Monk is comfortable in your household or a strain on it.

Vets, boosters and finding help quickly

Register with a vet before you need one. In a city this size the difference between a clinic that knows your Yellow Monk and one meeting it during an emergency is considerable. Do it in the first fortnight, while nothing is wrong.

The cost, and the cost after that

From ₹28,837. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. Budget a similar amount again for year one.

Vets, records and the monsoon

Every Yellow Monk leaves with its health record complete — vaccinations, deworming and a pre-listing check. Register with a Masulkar colony vet in the first fortnight, while nothing is wrong: the difference between a clinic that knows your bird and one meeting it during an emergency is considerable.
