The flats here are compact and the buildings are close together, which suits a family friendly breed rather better than isolation would. A African Grey Parrot raised in this density grows up used to noise, lifts and strangers, and is calmer for it.

Walking a medium breed in a crowded city

Keep the bird on the inside, away from the road, and accept that a Vikhroli East walk is a training session rather than a stroll. A African Grey Parrot learns the city fast when it is walked deliberately and never learns it at all when it is dragged.

The monsoon, honestly

Ask anyone who has raised a African Grey Parrot through a Mumbai monsoon and they will mention the paws first. the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership Rinse and dry between the pads after every walk from June onward. It takes a minute and prevents the thing that costs a vet visit.

What it costs, and what it keeps costing

Budget ₹67,150 to ₹67,150 for the bird and a similar amount again for the first year. That second number is the one people forget, and it is the one that decides whether a African Grey Parrot is comfortable in your household or a strain on it.

Vets, records and the monsoon

Every African Grey Parrot leaves with its health record complete — vaccinations, deworming and a pre-listing check. Register with a Vikhroli East vet in the first fortnight, while nothing is wrong: the difference between a clinic that knows your bird and one meeting it during an emergency is considerable.
