Walking a tiny breed in a crowded city

Keep the bird on the inside, away from the road, and accept that a Vangani walk is a training session rather than a stroll. A African Love Birds learns the city fast when it is walked deliberately and never learns it at all when it is dragged.

What it costs, and what it keeps costing

From ₹3,838. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. We would rather quote the real figure and explain what is in it.

A African Love Birds in a Vangani home

The flats here are compact and the buildings are close together, which suits a playful breed rather better than isolation would. A African Love Birds raised in this density grows up used to noise, lifts and strangers, and is calmer for it.

The monsoon, honestly

mild tropical plateau, which is a polite way of saying the rain arrives and does not leave. A tiny bird coming in wet twice a day needs a towel routine and somewhere to dry that is not the bed. Fungal trouble in a African Love Birds starts in exactly the places you stop checking.

Choosing between breeds

If you are weighing the African Love Birds against something else, compare coat and energy rather than looks. In this climate a heavy coat is real work, and a tiny bird with more energy than your schedule has hours will be unhappy in a way that no amount of affection fixes.

The cost, and the cost after that

From ₹3,838. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. Budget a similar amount again for year one.

Health and handover

Vet-examined, vaccinated and dewormed before it travels, with the records handed over as originals. Keep them with the clinic number — a tiny bird on a booster schedule runs off those original dates.
