Walking a tiny breed in a crowded city

Early mornings are the honest answer. The pavements are passable, the surface is cool enough for paws, and a family friendly African Love Birds gets to work through its energy before the day starts. Evening walks are for company rather than exercise.

Vets, boosters and finding help quickly

Register with a vet before you need one. In a city this size the difference between a clinic that knows your African Love Birds and one meeting it during an emergency is considerable. Do it in the first fortnight, while nothing is wrong.

Choosing between breeds

If you are weighing the African Love Birds against something else, compare coat and energy rather than looks. In this climate a heavy coat is real work, and a tiny bird with more energy than your schedule has hours will be unhappy in a way that no amount of affection fixes.

The monsoon, honestly

Ask anyone who has raised a African Love Birds through a Mumbai monsoon and they will mention the paws first. the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership Rinse and dry between the pads after every walk from June onward. It takes a minute and prevents the thing that costs a vet visit.

Space in MHADA Colony is measured carefully, and a tiny bird has to fit into a plan that was already tight. The good news is that a African Love Birds cares far less about floor area than about whether anyone is in the room. Households here manage this breed in genuinely small flats, and manage it well.

The cost, and the cost after that

From ₹3,242. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. Budget a similar amount again for year one.

Health and handover

Vet-examined, vaccinated and dewormed before it travels, with the records handed over as originals. Keep them with the clinic number — a tiny bird on a booster schedule runs off those original dates.
