We place the Shih Tzu across Wakad and the wider Pune region. Every dog is vet-examined and dewormed before it travels, and you see it on a video call before anything is dispatched.

Choosing between breeds

The Shih Tzu is bold and lives around 10-16 Years. Both facts should sit in the decision. A breed that suits a household at thirty may not suit the same household at forty, and this is a long commitment in a city that moves people around.

The monsoon, honestly

the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds Four months of the year, everything about owning a Shih Tzu here is shaped by water - walks get shorter, drying becomes a daily ritual, and skin problems that would be trivial elsewhere turn stubborn if ignored. Plan for it rather than being surprised by it each June.

Walking a small breed in a crowded city

There is no quiet route, so the training has to do the work instead. A Shih Tzu that walks on a loose lead past traffic, hawkers and other dogs is a pleasure; one that pulls is a daily argument for 10-16 Years. That difference is decided in the first three months.

Vets, boosters and finding help quickly

Register with a vet before you need one. In a city this size the difference between a clinic that knows your Shih Tzu and one meeting it during an emergency is considerable. Do it in the first fortnight, while nothing is wrong.

A Shih Tzu in a Wakad home

The flats here are compact and the buildings are close together, which suits a bold breed rather better than isolation would. A Shih Tzu raised in this density grows up used to noise, lifts and strangers, and is calmer for it.

The cost, and the cost after that

From ₹24,438. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. Budget a similar amount again for year one.

Vets, records and the monsoon

Every Shih Tzu leaves with its health record complete — vaccinations, deworming and a pre-listing check. Register with a Wakad vet in the first fortnight, while nothing is wrong: the difference between a clinic that knows your dog and one meeting it during an emergency is considerable.
