Choosing between breeds

The Shih Tzu is playful and lives around 10-16 Years. Both facts should sit in the decision. A breed that suits a household at thirty may not suit the same household at forty, and this is a long commitment in a city that moves people around.

The monsoon, honestly

moderate Deccan, which is a polite way of saying the rain arrives and does not leave. A small dog coming in wet twice a day needs a towel routine and somewhere to dry that is not the bed. Fungal trouble in a Shih Tzu starts in exactly the places you stop checking.

Walking a small breed in a crowded city

Keep the dog on the inside, away from the road, and accept that a Tungareshwar walk is a training session rather than a stroll. A Shih Tzu learns the city fast when it is walked deliberately and never learns it at all when it is dragged.

A Shih Tzu in a Tungareshwar home

The flats here are compact and the buildings are close together, which suits a playful breed rather better than isolation would. A Shih Tzu raised in this density grows up used to noise, lifts and strangers, and is calmer for it.
