Choosing between breeds

Talk to us before you decide rather than after. We would rather place a different dog with you and have it work than sell you the Shih Tzu you asked for and hear about it in six months.

A Shih Tzu in a Kandivali East home

Space in Kandivali East is measured carefully, and a small dog has to fit into a plan that was already tight. The good news is that a Shih Tzu cares far less about floor area than about whether anyone is in the room. Households here manage this breed in genuinely small flats, and manage it well.

The monsoon, honestly

Ask anyone who has raised a Shih Tzu through a Mumbai monsoon and they will mention the paws first. the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds Rinse and dry between the pads after every walk from June onward. It takes a minute and prevents the thing that costs a vet visit.

Walking a small breed in a crowded city

Keep the dog on the inside, away from the road, and accept that a Kandivali East walk is a training session rather than a stroll. A Shih Tzu learns the city fast when it is walked deliberately and never learns it at all when it is dragged.

Vets, boosters and finding help quickly

Register with a vet before you need one. In a city this size the difference between a clinic that knows your Shih Tzu and one meeting it during an emergency is considerable. Do it in the first fortnight, while nothing is wrong.

Shih Tzu price in Kandivali East

Health and handover

Vet-examined, vaccinated and dewormed before it travels, with the records handed over as originals. Keep them with the clinic number — a small dog on a booster schedule runs off those original dates.
