What is listed for Selu is what we can actually deliver. A aloof large breed raised in this density grows up used to noise, lifts and strangers, and is calmer for it.
Choosing between breeds
Talk to us before you decide rather than after. We would rather place a different dog with you and have it work than sell you the Afghan Hound Puppy you asked for and hear about it in six months.
The monsoon, honestly
moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips Four months of the year, everything about owning a Afghan Hound Puppy here is shaped by water - walks get shorter, drying becomes a daily ritual, and skin problems that would be trivial elsewhere turn stubborn if ignored. Plan for it rather than being surprised by it each June.
What it costs, and what it keeps costing
From ₹78,219. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. We would rather quote the real figure and explain what is in it.
Walking a large breed in a crowded city
There is no quiet route, so the training has to do the work instead. A Afghan Hound Puppy that walks on a loose lead past traffic, hawkers and other dogs is a pleasure; one that pulls is a daily argument for 12–14 Years. That difference is decided in the first three months.
Vets, boosters and finding help quickly
Keep the vaccination card and the clinic number in the same place. A large dog on a booster schedule needs the original dates, and the person covering for you on a weekend will need both without having to ask.
The cost, and the cost after that
From ₹78,219. Listings well below that usually turn out to be missing the health work, and the saving evaporates at the first vet visit. Budget a similar amount again for year one.
Health and handover
Vet-examined, vaccinated and dewormed before it travels, with the records handed over as originals. Keep them with the clinic number — a large dog on a booster schedule runs off those original dates.
Raising a Afghan Hound in Selu: local climate
Selu is hottest in May, averaging 42°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Afghan Hound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.
Winters are mild, with December nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from July to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 31 | 34 | 38 | 41 | 42 | 35 | 31 | 30 | 30 | 30 | 30 | 30 |
| Low °C | 14 | 17 | 21 | 25 | 27 | 25 | 23 | 22 | 22 | 19 | 16 | 13 |
| Rain mm | 4 | 4 | 14 | 8 | 16 | 141 | 185 | 174 | 175 | 62 | 18 | 3 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Afghan Hound Puppy
What a large dog needs in a compact Selu home.
- Coat: brushed through the humid months, dried thoroughly after rain.
- Traffic: keep the Afghan Hound Puppy on the inside, away from the road, every single walk.
- Space: one spot that is unambiguously its own, however small the flat.
- Food: sealed containers; humidity spoils dry food faster than the date suggests.
- Clinic: number saved, records in the same place.
